New ITIL® V3 Foundation and Foundation Bridge Syllabuses launched

When the ITIL V3 Foundation syllabus was launched in June 2007 it was always intended to review it after six months of operation. Initial concerns raised by students, Accredited Training Organisations (ATOs) and Examination Institutes (EIs) were addressed through an interim syllabus which was adopted on February 1st 2008.

A formal review has now taken place with the following objectives:

  • To poll a wide range of stakeholders in the ITIL training community to ensure a broad range of feedback is received on the suitability of the current syllabus to meet the requirements of their students
  • To poll a wide range of Students and their sponsors as to whether the current syllabus meets their operational objectives in terms of scope and depth of topics covered
  • To analyse all feedback and if necessary produce recommendations for syllabus changes to be considered by the ITIL Qualifications Board (QB).

The results of the polls were analysed and discussed by a project team made up of representatives of each of the Examination Institutes and elected representatives of ATOs. The changes were subsequently approved by the QB in November 2008.

ATOs should note that training materials will also need to be adjusted to suitably incorporate the changes; however re-accreditation of materials will not be required.

New revised ITIL V3 Foundation and Foundation Bridge Syllabuses will be live for all courses and examinations from 01 May.
