Biography of Porter Sherman

Dr. Sherman has worked in IT for more than 25 years. Before moving into the corporate world, he taught Computer Engineering for 10 years at the University of Bridgeport.

His industrial portfolio includes United Technologies Corporation, General Electric, Oxford Healthcare, Unilever Inc & UBS Investment Bank. While at Unilever, Dr. Sherman was a founding member/contributor of a three year, global ITIL Service Improvement initiative. He took on & successfully led the North American leg of the program that eventually won the itSMF International's Project of the Year award in 2005.

Dr. Sherman is currently Director of Service Improvement for UBS Investment Bank out of Stamford CT. He is a member of the Executive Advisory Board for the Center for Inter-Disciplinary Business, Engineering and Technology Leadership (CIBETL) at the University of Bridgeport graduate center.

Other accomplishments include certification as an ITIL Master/Service Manager, Co-Chaired the NA itSMF Academic Committee, contributing author to the recently published OGC ITIL "Business Perspective" book, holds a patent in machine intelligence as applied to helicopter controls as well as being a published author including numerous papers, presentations and a book on Expert Systems.
