The priSM Institute® is pleased to announce the addition of the ITIL Master to the certification and qualification schemes. After careful review by the Global priSM Institute, the ITIL Master will be added as follows:
The ITIL Master will fulfill the two (2) certificate requirement at the Professional and Distinguished Professional credential level for the initial application. For the annual requirement, the ITIL Master is worth 24 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits. With the addition of the ITIL Master, all courses within the ITIL v3 scheme are now included in the priSM program. The Master adds a different element to the ITIL scheme in that it requires the candidate to demonstrate their capability to apply ITIL principles/techniques/methods in the workplace. This review can be a retroactive assessment of a completed project or a review of a proposed service improvement project that will be completed in the future.
This practical assessment is a unique combination of skill 'validation' - not only does the candidate need to prepare extensive documentation, they must also successfully complete an interview where they will defend the information in the submitted project. Currently, APM Group has completed the initial pilot and the second pilot is underway.
"With the inclusion of the ITIL Master to the priSM scheme, one of the core IT Service Management frameworks is now represented from the foundation to the highest level," says Michael Imhoff Nielsen, Registration Services Director of the Global priSM Institute. "The ITIL Master demands a rigorous process of documenting one's ability to apply the principles of ITIL into real world live IT Service Management implementations. The ITIL Master brings a new level into the ITIL scheme of not just knowing, but also being able to tailor and apply that knowledge using skills and experience accumulated through the years. This supports several of the core elements in the priSM scheme."
Richard Pharro, CEO, The APM Group said, "The Accreditor is pleased that ITIL Master has been added to the priSM Institute's scheme. The scheme provides ITSM practitioners with credentials that recognize their knowledge, professionalism and experience. Maintaining and improving standards for the IT Service Management profession is a shared goal for APM Group and itSMF and we hope that many ITIL Master qualification holders will benefit from the priSM program."
Since its launch as a pilot program in February of 2010, the value of the priSM® credential has consistently increased in the United States and, with the continued rollout, across the globe. As the program operationalizes across the world, increasing numbers of practitioners and organizations are embracing the program. As our program continues to expand, we continue to look for benefits for our credential holders and support the ongoing maturity of IT Service Management.
