ITIL Software Scheme Announcement

ITIL® Software Scheme accredits a new Licensed Software Assessor Glenfis AG

30 November 2011, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, UK..... The official ITIL Accreditor is pleased to announce that Glenfis AG has been approved as a Licensed Software Assessor for the ITIL Software Scheme. The accredited ITIL Software scheme is an initiative run by The APM Group and the Cabinet Office, owner of ITIL, to verify software tools are compliant with ITIL processes.

In order to become a Licensed Software Assessor, Glenfis successfully passed a three stage audit. They can now assess tools and forward their recommendations to The APM Group for endorsement.

Martin Andenmatten, founder and CEO, Glenfis said, "Glenfis believes independent assurance and surveillance is the best way for software vendors to prove the functionality of their products. Based on this, Glenfis decided to become a licensed software assessor and has undergone a three stage audit by the official ITIL Accreditor The APM Group. We can now better contribute to transparency on the ITSM tool market."

Andenmatten said the audit process was intense: "Glenfis already has an ISO/IEC 20000 certified management system, so most of the required processes were already in place. There were some additional requirements from ISO/IEC 17024 that we had to fulfill for the certification. The APM Group auditors reviewed the evidence and conducted interviews with our staff. Special attention was paid to the auditors' qualifications and experience. Our auditors have at least five years' experience in implementing IT Service management. They are certified ITIL Experts and have an auditor diploma such as ISACA's CISA (Certified Information System auditor). The third audit stage was a witness audit directly on a tool vendor's premises. After successfully passing these three stages, the APM Group rewarded the LSA status to Glenfis."

Richard Pharro, CEO, The APM Group, said, "Our auditing process to approve Licensed Software Assessors is rigorous. Glenfis showed great professionalism at every stage and we are delighted to welcome them to the scheme, and trust they will apply their own high standards to the tool vendors they assess."

Andenmattensaid "Glenfis believes this approach to assess ITSM tools as reliable and fit for purpose is an excellent way for customers to choose quality software that will help them with their ITIL process implementation. It is similar to the ITIL accredited training scheme where an ATO must fulfill certain quality standards. The IT Service Management market is getting more complex and a lot of tools claim to be ITIL compatible or compliant. Some of them have an unproved acknowledgement by consulting companies without any official quality assurance. This situation makes it very difficult for IT organizations to decide on adequate solutions with reliable ITSM functionality based on ITIL. The official scheme gives customers the opportunity to choose a reputable supplier."
