Certified Process Design Engineer - Endorsed as Complementary to the ITIL® V3 Scheme

Loyalist Certification Services (LCS) announces the release of a new Qualification in Process Design. This has been developed in conjunction with leading industry experts and is the fourth complementary qualification for the ITIL® Qualification Scheme.

LCS recognized there are many process frameworks which define best practices for achieving quality service management including ITIL etc. While each describes a set of integrated processes and controls, none provided step-by-step methods and techniques for actually designing, re-engineering and/or improving those processes. Certified Process Design Engineer (CPDE) has been developed to  fill this gap. The knowledge obtained  applies to every Service Management framework, standard and maturity model.

Director of  Loyalist Certification Services, Julia Chapelle says, " This certification represents an area of knowledge that was previously under serviced with what the market had in existence. The demand for prescriptive, hands on learning and a certification that recognizes that value of the Process Design Engineer within an organization has finally been fulfilled".

The CPDE qualification is fully developed, tested and is currently offered through training organizations that have been Accredited by Loyalist Certification Services.  It is anticipated that the market will continue  to embrace this and all training companies are welcome to apply for accreditation.

Richard Pharro, CEO of APM Group said, "The APM Group is pleased to endorse this high calibre new certification for credit towards the official ITIL Qualification scheme".

Those undertaking the CPDE Qualification will benefit from:

  • Learning about process elements, models, usage and deliverables
  • Gathering and analyzing process requirements
  • Understanding the difference between developing, re-engineering and improving processes
  • Studying the importance of roles, responsibilities and functions in process design
  • Developing a process definition document
  • Learning flowcharting techniques
  • Using automation within processes
  • Troubleshooting and improving processes
  • Developing meaningful metrics and converting data into usable information
  • Understanding the concepts of organizational change management

Complementary Qualifications: The ITIL Version 3 (V3) qualifications scheme recognizes supplementary certifications which link and "add value" to ITIL V3 Best Practice and the V3 certification portfolio, under the ITIL Complementary Qualifications Scheme. In order to be recognized under this scheme, complementary qualifications must meet the following criteria:

  • address areas within the ITIL V3 Core or Complementary publications or other publicly available ITSM related or relevant publications (books, standards, papers etc)
  • are not covered by other ITIL V3 Core qualifications or
  • cover existing areas of ITIL V3 Core qualifications with a new focus

The LCS CPDE  qualification has been  endorsed and awarded a credit value of 1.5, which recognizes the alignment to V3 and can be used by candidates who successfully achieve the certification towards the ITIL V3 Expert Level of certification.

Project Management Institute (PMI) Professional Development Units (PDUs): Training companies can seek to have their CPDE training materials appointed with credits by PMI.
