Delivery of ITIL Accredited Training Courses and Accredited Trainers

The following information outlines the basic requirements for accredited trainers and course providers under the official ITIL accredited training program, as endorsed by the ITIL Qualification Board.

General Rules for ATOs

All training organisations that wish to be accredited to offer ITIL training and examinations must meet the minimum requirements set by the ITIL Qualification Board, together with additional requirements set by their Examination Institute (EI).

ATO accreditation includes, but is not limited to, full assessment of the Quality Management Systems (QMS), ITIL training materials, Intellectual Property use and trainers, and includes ongoing surveillance.

All ATOs are also required to sign and return an Intellectual Property Sub-License with APM Group-The Accreditor for the use of ITIL Intellectual Property within their courses.

General Rules for ITIL Trainers

Accredited ITIL trainers must meet the minimum ITIL trainer criteria set by the ITIL Qualification Board, together with additional requirements set by their EI.  Accredited Trainers are also subject to full assessment and regular surveillance.

Trainer accreditation includes, but is not limited to, training experience, experience in the IT service management field, and specific education / certificate requirements depending on the level of ITIL qualification that will be delivered.

It should be noted that once accredited, trainers have optional exemption from attending accredited training courses for ITIL examinations, and are able to take ITIL examinations directly via their EI.
